Dew Pond Digging

The need for water for the animals kept on Salisbury Plain gave rise to the business of dew pond making carried on here by the Smith family. Constructing the ponds required a lot of labour and skill to make them hold water. Now they have largely disappeared, marked only by a hollow in the ground.
